I was born in
Edinburgh and educated in Scotland and have always had a special
interest in Art and in 3 dimensional design in particular. After
leaving school I worked for a number of years in a small silver workshop
in the North of Scotland.
In 1995 I enrolled in the HND Jewellery Design course at the Surrey
Institute of Art & Design in Epsom. I studied there before
transferring to the 3 Dimensional Design Degree course at Farnham
Surrey. I graduated from there with a BA(Hons.)in 1998. Since then
I have been working as a Studio Jeweller from my home in Epsom
Surrey.
I exhibit at a number of venues around the South of England and have had work
in some well known Galleries throughout the UK. |
I am a Member
of The Society of Designer Craftsmen (SDC) and The Association for
Contemporary Jewellery (ACJ). I am also on the Craft Council National
Index of Makers.
The Inspiration for my work comes from nature really and gardens in particular,
the colours found in them year round. I have combined my interest in embroidery
with metalwork, working mainly in silver, precious stones, pearls and hand dyed
silks. I produce work, which reflects my affinity with traditional skills and
values but which I feel has a contemporary twist.
My Designs
are available to order and commissions and special sizes or details can
be discussed by phone or by appointment. |
